Bugis Street Flour Boy

Any guess who is this little boy with flour all over his shorts? Kekeekeee....its me of course :p But hey, I am not playing with the flour ok, I was helping mom as she made Hakka Abacus. The lady behind me is mom.

I used to help out at my grandma's food stall at Bugis street (Black street) when I was very young. Back then, grandma was quite well-known for her Hakka Abacus, Red bean soup(we have the secret recipes) and Soon Kueh. I remembered after she was interviewed by the news in the early 80s, the queue to buy her Soon Kueh gets longer and longer :D Hmm...does that means I have 20 years of cooking experience?? Hhahhahaaa...

I tried many Hakka Abacus but I still miss grandma's Hakka abacus most of all. I encouraged mom to start classes on her Hakka dishes again. Her Hakka abacus was shown on TV again last year. Grandma was very happy when she knew her simple dish was once again introduced in the news after 20 years. I want to look for the picture but still searching for it. I will upload it here tomorrow :)

Okie, since its Tuesday today. Let's have a quiz :D The first 3 to email me with the correct answer will win a Pantene Hair Treatment set. Email to grapefiber@hotmail.com

QUIZ :
In which Channel U programme did I appear to introduce my mom's Hakka Abacus?
You can either tell me the name of the programme or any of the host of that TV programme.

Take note:

Hi lao shi,
thanks for the advice!
I made a mistake by leaving it in my bathroom after use. I did not realise the afternoon sun will shine into the bathroom because I am always at work until my mother told me.
I will continue to support this moisturiser because my skin become softer and lines were not so obvious now.

Lao Shi, how then is the smell considered as smelly ? What impact will there be if used when it's expired ?

Hi Bryan,
you look quite a decent and cute boy. I always tell my son to take you as his good learning example - Hardworking, down to earth and filial young man.
I kept my collagen cream in the fridge so its going fine. I see no problem with that. I am no longer troubled over my dry skin problem.

Thank you

I think we have to use our common sense more often.

Bryan, I like the way you teach your cooking class and all your recipes.
I am just like you. When I cook, I also dun use a measuring kit to measure the exact amt of water or ingredients used.

I look forward to more of your recipe.

Hi anonymous, Hakka abacus is Bryan's laoshi mom's cooking class recipe, aiyo, this abacus very difficult to cook correctly, how to describe in words. Attend their class la. I am also a fan of hakka abacus and i have tried your grandma's stall in 1980s. Very poor environment but all good food there.
